The Newfoundland Area Public Library will host author William Yukikazu Fellenberg of Greentown for a reading from his debut memoir, Sayonara Cowboy. Born to an American G.I. and a Yokohama shopgirl after WWII, Fellenberg shares the bittersweet journey of a boy navigating the shifting tides of identity between two cultures and two imperfect parents.
Complementing the reading will be a screening of Fall Down Seven, Get Up Eight: The Japanese War Brides, a short documentary about Japanese women who like Fellenberg’s mother immigrated to the U.S. as war brides.
Librarian Kristina Russo will moderate a discussion, followed by a book signing and light refreshments.
